Nintendo revealed this Tuesday (9) the Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, a new title in the sports series that comes with 12 modes and is scheduled for release on October 22, 2026 exclusively on Switch 2.
The game brings back the atmosphere of party and movement that marked Wii Sports Resort, launched more than 15 years ago. Unlike the original Switch Sports, which arrived with a limited number of modalities and received updates over time, the new version now debuts completely, with 12 events announced at once.

Most games use one or two Joy-Con 2 with motion controls. On skateboarding, for example, the layout resembles mouse controls for greater precision.
Return of Wuhu Island and character options
One of the highlights is the return of Wuhu Island, the iconic setting of Wii Sports Resort, which can be explored with the propeller plane. Players will be able to choose between Sportsmates, customizable characters introduced in Switch Sports, or traditional Mii, an option that recalls the classic vibe of the Wii.
The announcement came during the summer Nintendo Direct, with demonstrations that reinforced the multiplayer appeal and focus on casual fun for families and friends. Pre-orders are now available on the Nintendo eShop.
