The Nintendo Direct scheduled for June 9, 2026 carries great expectations. The presentation of around 50 minutes promises to fill out the release calendar for the rest of the year for the Switch 2. Although Star Fox and Splatoon Raiders will arrive in the coming weeks, little is known about Nintendo’s plans for the rest of 2026, which should attract millions of fans to the event.
There are several Switch 2 games without a defined release date, others without adequate gameplay and rumors about projects that have not yet been officially revealed. The Japanese publisher remains silent until the start of the broadcast, but analysts are already putting forward their expectations for what may appear in the Direct.
The Duskbloods
The Duskbloods was revealed as the next project from FromSoftware, the same developer behind Elden Ring and Dark Souls. The title will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 and will feature a grim co-op adventure with the studio’s signature brutal combat.
Despite the announcement in April 2025, there is still no concrete release date nor many details about gameplay or setting. With more than a year into the Switch 2 cycle, the timing seems ideal for Nintendo and FromSoftware to move forward with the project, possibly with a generous slice of the Direct dedicated to it.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is considered by many to be the best game of last year, but it didn’t receive a version for the Nintendo platform at the time, largely because it came out before the launch of the Switch 2.
For such an acclaimed title, its absence on Nintendo’s latest hardware seems like a missed opportunity, especially given the gameplay that adapts well to the console’s portable style. It may be optimistic, but many fans would like a complete replay if the game arrives on the Switch 2.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4
Last month, Activision announced the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, which arrives alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. However, it did not show gameplay running on the hardware or performance details in the three modes.
This attracted attention at the time, especially without Direct on the calendar. Now, with the event confirmed, it’s likely that Nintendo will save the gameplay reveal for its own presentation, rather than other events like Summer Game Fest or Xbox Showcase. It will be interesting to see if the Switch 2 will take advantage of online features like GameChat.
A new 3D Mario
This may be pure speculation, but it seems now or never for the announcement of a new 3D Mario game. Nearly a decade after Super Mario Odyssey, the closest thing to a new 3D experience was Super Mario 3D World’s Bowser’s Fury expansion and the Switch 2 re-releases of Super Mario Galaxy.
Hopes are dampened a bit because the Odyssey team delivered Donkey Kong Bananza last year. Still, another team may have taken on the development of a new 3D Mario, and it’s this small chance that keeps expectations high with each new Direct.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake
Finally, the title that everyone waits and hopes to appear appears. In recent months, rumors have circulated that Nintendo is working in secret on the remake of what many consider the best Zelda ever made, Ocarina of Time.
An insider with a history of nailing Nintendo announcements, NateTheHate, suggested that Ocarina of Time could be the biggest reveal at tomorrow’s presentation. With the Zelda series celebrating 40 years in 2026, a remake as a Switch 2 exclusive would be a remarkable way to celebrate.
