BYD launched the new Atto 2 in Brazil, the plug-in flex hybrid SUV derived from the electric Yuan Pro. The model is offered in GL versions, for R$ 149,990, and GS, for R$ 169,990. The novelty seeks to gain share in the hybrid SUV segment and, therefore, will be manufactured at the Camaçari unit, in Bahia.
The main attraction of the launch is the plug-in flex hybrid engine, as well as updates to the equipment package. What differentiates the versions is basically the battery capacity, which directly influences the electrical autonomy and combined power, among other details.
In the entry-level GL version, the battery has 7.85 kWh and charging power of 3.3 kW. In GS, there are 18.03 kWh and 6.6 kW. The autonomy in 100% electric mode reaches 45 km in the GL and 110 km in the GS, according to data from the brand in the NEDC cycle. Total power is 177 hp in the entry-level model and 197 hp in the top-of-the-line version. The difference in time from 0 to 100 km/h is just 0.1 seconds, with 8.4s in the most powerful version.
Also according to BYD, the Atto 2 reaches up to 770 km of combined autonomy when fueled only with ethanol, in the NEDC cycle. With gasoline, the total range can reach 1,045 km in the GS and 1,000 km in the GL.
The differences in equipment appear mainly in the multimedia center, 10.1 inches in the GL and 12.8 inches in the GS. The more expensive version features integrated Google Maps, rear collision alert, cross traffic alert and braking, lane keeping, blind spot detection, induction charging, leather seats, electrical adjustments for the driver’s seat, rain sensor, panoramic roof and roof rack.
Furthermore, both versions have an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel, remote software updates, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, forward collision alert, ACC, intelligent high beams, automatic headlight switching, traffic sign reading and automatic emergency braking.
The BYD Atto 2 DM-i Flex offers a six-year or 200,000 km warranty for the vehicle and an eight-year or 200,000 km warranty for the battery.
