Sweden’s captain, Graham Potter, appeared with an unusual look during the open works carried out by the squad, last Tuesday. The commander chose to carry out the work on the lawn wearing a cowboy hat, making a direct reference to the region of Dallas, Texas, the location that serves as the Swedish headquarters for this World Cup.
The prop recalls a relaxed interaction that began in the last few days of March, when the group led by Potter secured their passport to the global tournament by overcoming the repechage phase.
— I’ll have a beer and then think, “Wow, let’s go to Dallas.” I’m going to have to dust off my cowboy hat, aren’t I? — joked the coach after the classification.
The great repercussion generated by his statement motivated Potter to also adopt the hat during photo shoots promoted by FIFA. On the occasion, he wore the piece combined with a full formal attire.
The Swedish team is part of Group F of the tournament and will play its first official game next Sunday, starting at 11pm (Brasília time), taking on Tunisia, in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. Following the first phase, the European team will face the teams from the Netherlands and Japan in the same group.
