This Thursday (11), ABEMA begins the free and exclusive broadcast of “Spotify On Stage Tokyo 2025 – Year-End Special-“, the first year-end special event promoted by Spotify in Japan. The show, held in December 2025, brought together artists who were featured on the platform’s main playlists throughout the year.

The show took place at the Tokyo Garden Theater on December 12, 2025 and served as a great summary of the Japanese music scene of that year. Artists from different styles took the stage for performances that celebrated recent hits, anniversaries and achievements.

Among the highlights were m-flo, celebrating 25 years of career, and Creepy Nuts, who dominated the charts with tracks like “Otonoke”, also gaining recognition outside of Japan. Sakanaction, Chanmina, HANA who scored hits since their debut in April 2025 and Hitsujibungaku, awarded Best National Alternative Artist at the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN, completed the main cast.

Kemio and Mika Horii took charge of the evening as masters of ceremonies. The event also featured behind-the-scenes conversations with the artists and exclusive excerpts of performance videos available only on Spotify.

The broadcast on ABEMA starts at 9pm on June 11th with a one-hour abridged version. From 10pm onwards, the public can watch the full show. The content is available for free until 10pm on June 17th. Afterwards, access continues until July 10th for subscribers of ABEMA Premium and the ad-supported plan.

What the event represented for the Japanese music market

“Spotify On Stage Tokyo” emerged as the platform’s first initiative of its kind to end the year, bringing together names that topped the most listened to playlists. The choice of artists reflects the diversity of the current scene, which mixes veterans, viral phenomena and new talents with international projection.

The free broadcast by ABEMA expands the reach of the event beyond the fans who followed Spotify. Anyone who didn’t have access to the live show or wants to rewatch the presentations gets a new opportunity at no initial cost.
