The Pokémon Company announced this Wednesday (10) the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, a package of paid downloadable content that will expand the building and exploration options in the quiet life game with Pokémon. The first part, called Bubbly Basin, arrives in August 2026 for the Nintendo Switch 2.
In addition to the paid DLC, players will receive a free update, Version 2.0.0, in August. It features the new Dive movement, which allows Ditto to navigate for long periods underwater, opening access to previously inaccessible underwater areas.
With Diving, it will be possible to explore a new underwater city, find Pokémon that live under the sea and decorate the environment with themed furniture. New outfits for Ditto will also be available in the first part of the Expansion Pass.
To access both the free update and paid content, players need to complete the mission “Let’s raise the environmental level even higher!” in Gloomy Seaside Town and master the Surf and Splash moves.
Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass Details
The expansion pass will be divided into three parts. The first focuses on the underwater city and new encounters with aquatic Pokémon. The second part, scheduled for winter 2026 in the northern hemisphere, adds new features without including extra cities. The third part arrives in 2027 and brings more cities and additional content.
The Expansion Pass can now be purchased on the Nintendo eShop from today. Anyone who purchases the package by August 31, 2027 will receive an early purchase bonus with a code for 30 Rare Pokémon Metals, used to create items. The bonus is also valid for those who redeem codes from physical or online stores, with redemption possible until August 31, 2027 via Mysterious Gift in the game.
As an immediate gift, whoever purchases will receive the recipe for “Ditto Pattern” wallpaper/block.
What changes for Pokémon Pokopia players
Pokémon Pokopia is a life and building simulation title where the player primarily controls Ditto. The new underwater content significantly expands the customization possibilities, allowing you to develop underwater areas and create more immersive and complex environments.
Impact on gameplay and community expectations
The addition of Diving and the underwater city represents a natural evolution for those who have already invested hours building on the surface. Players will now be able to integrate the seabed into urban planning, combining land and water elements in a deeper way. The three-part division guarantees content over the course of more than a year, which should keep engagement high after the initial sales success of the base game.
