Singer Shakira’s relationship with former player Piqué officially began during the 2010 World Cup, held in South Africa. At the time, the Colombian artist was the voice of the hit “Waka Waka”, the tournament’s official theme.

The first connection between them was established behind the scenes of the recording of the video for the official World Cup song. Piqué and Shakira shared scenes, and from that meeting, they began to build a bond. After Spain’s victory in the 2010 World Cup, the couple made their relationship public a year later. This union of sports and music stars quickly captured global media attention, transforming the couple into a pop-cultural phenomenon.

In 2012, the Barcelona star and the artist announced the pregnancy of their first child. Milan Piqué Mebarak was born on January 22, 2013. The birth of the child strengthened the couple, and Shakira, at the time, made statements praising Piqué as a father.

Two years later, in 2015, the couple celebrated the arrival of their second child, Sasha. The boy was born on January 29th. Initially, the sex was not revealed by the parents, until the singer’s family released the information publicly.

Over the next four years, the couple lived in the public eye, appearing on red carpets and at Barcelona title parties, with an apparently stable relationship. However, in 2019, the first public disagreements began to emerge.
