Beatriz Haddad Maia falls again in the WTA rankings and seeks recovery in Portugal
Beatriz Haddad Maia suffered another drop in the WTA rankings released this Monday. The main Brazilian tennis player dropped eight positions and now occupies 116th place in the world.
Number 2 seed at WTA 125 in Figueira da Foz, Portugal, Bia has the opportunity to add important points this week on synthetic courts. A good performance could return the São Paulo native to the top 100, a position she held for a long period of her career.
The 2026 season has been difficult for the 30-year-old tennis player. With just four wins in 21 games played so far, Bia has accumulated 17 defeats and seeks to regain consistency after changes in technical command and a start to the year with several early eliminations.
Other Brazilians in the ranking
Laura Pigossi, second best in the country, fell five positions and now appears in 225th place. Gabriela Cé assumed the position of third Brazilian after the strong fall of Carolina Meligeni Alves, who lost 50 places and went to 367th position.
On the other hand, Luiza Fullana rose 33 positions and reached 481st place, close to her best mark. Ana Candiotto gained eight positions and is in 517th.
Further down, 22-year-old Marjorie Souza made an impressive jump of 224 places after finishing runner-up in a W15 tournament, reaching a career-best 1005th place.
Carolina Meligeni, champion of the W35 in Cuiabá last Sunday, should recover around 34 positions in the ranking that will be released next week.
