House of the Dragon actress Bethany Antonia expresses interest in playing Storm in the MCU’s new X-Men
Actress Bethany Antonia, known for her work in “House of the Dragon”, publicly expressed her desire to bring the character Storm to life in the upcoming adaptation of the X-Men for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The statement comes amid the development process of the expected reboot of the mutant team in theaters.
After Cynthia Erivo (from the film “Wicked”) showed interest in the role, now it was Antonia’s turn to mention the iconic mutant, also known as Lady of Time, as one of her biggest professional aspirations during an interview with the Comic Book portal.
The artist stated: “I would like to audition for Storm, but I believe the role has already been filled.” However, the interviewer promptly informed her that no casting had been confirmed yet, prompting Antonia to joke: “So, give me a call.”
Storm maintains her relevance as one of the central figures in Marvel’s acclaimed “X-Men ’97” animated series. In theaters, the character was most recently seen in “Dark Phoenix” (2019), where actress Alexandra Shipp (also in “Barbie”) played her.
There is speculation that Halle Berry, the first actress to play Storm on the big screen, may have a role in “Avengers: Doctor Doom”, scheduled to premiere in 2026, although this information has not been officially confirmed.
At the same time, screenwriters Lee Sung Jin and Joana Calo are dedicated to developing the plot for the Marvel Studios relaunch. The project is being directed by Jake Schreier, known as “Thunderbolts*”.
The expectation is that the new film version will only hit the screens from 2028, with the cast selection process being completed over the next few months.
