However, the Madrid club’s decisive entry into the negotiations changed the situation, positioning it as the main interested party in signing him. The acquisition of Silva was a specific request from coach José Mourinho, who restarts his journey at the helm of the capital team.
In his new phase at Real Madrid, Bernardo Silva will meet striker Kylian Mbappé again. The two players had already shared the same dressing room in the 2016/17 season, when they played for Monaco. On that occasion, the French team won the French Championship title and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, marking a victorious phase.
Bernardo’s career, which began in Benfica’s youth categories, was consolidated at Manchester City. Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, the midfielder played for nine seasons in England, winning several national trophies and a Champions League, which established him as one of the most relevant figures of his generation in Portugal.
As he prepares to join his new club’s squad, Bernardo Silva is fully focused on competing in the World Cup.
