The expert report on the death of actor José Patrik Machado, aged 32, concluded that the cause of death was an acute myocardial infarction. He was found lifeless in the early hours of June 5, inside a motel room located in Jardim Paulista, in Campo Grande.
In a statement to the g1 portal, delegate Christian Duarte Mollinedo, responsible for the case at the 4th Civil Police Station in the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, confirmed this Friday (19) that the heart attack was caused by the use of narcotics, although the toxicological examination did not identify an overdose.
Security camera records showed that José Patrik entered the establishment accompanied by another man. Later, a third individual arrived at the scene. The two companions left the motel together, while the actor remained alone in the room.
The men who were with José Patrik were summoned to testify, but have not yet appeared at the police station. Authorities also intend to subpoena the driver of the transport app who took the actor and one of his companions to the motel.
According to the delegate, after the two men left, a chambermaid asked José Patrik whether he would continue staying in the room or end his stay. The actor replied that he would extend his stay for a while longer.
Minutes later, the employee tried to communicate again to discuss the charge for continuing the stay, but received no response. Given the lack of response, other motel employees went to the room and found the actor lying on the floor, apparently without vital signs.
Developments in the police investigation into the death
The delegate stated that, at the current stage of the investigation, the companions will not be held responsible for failure to provide assistance. This is due to the fact that the actor remained alone and, according to reports, conscious after they left. The initial investigation does not show signs of physical violence or the involvement of third parties in the direct cause of death.
“At the scene, the consumption of alcoholic beverages and the use of narcotic substances were found, and this heart attack was probably a consequence of the excessive use of this substance”, declared delegate Christian Mollinedo.
The Civil Police are also investigating the presence of the third man at the motel to clarify whether he was there to supply drugs or whether he was simply accompanying the others involved. For now, the two individuals will be heard as witnesses, and not as suspects in the death.
Recall the details of the discovery of the body at the motel
Military Police teams were called at around 12:29 am, after the establishment’s employees reported the presence of a person who had died in one of the rooms.
According to reports from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), José Patrik was already stiff when rescuers arrived at the motel. The area was promptly isolated so that the work of the Civil Police and Criminal Forensics could be carried out.
The victim’s identification was confirmed through a document found near the body in the room. José Patrik’s cell phone was seized by authorities and will be analyzed as a key part of the ongoing investigation.
