Demand for Steam Controller forces Valve to extend shipping deadlines to 2027
Valve announced new information about Steam Controller reservations, revealing that demand for the accessory has significantly exceeded the company’s production capacity. The update details that consumers looking to purchase the device will need to prepare for a considerable waiting period.
The company announced an adjustment to its reservation system, clarifying the expected periods for receiving Steam Controller purchase confirmation emails. Although Valve has assured that there are “no plans to stop manufacturing” the product, the high volume of orders requires managing customer expectations.
Valve details extended deadlines for Steam Controller delivery
The page dedicated to the Steam Controller now displays estimated times for the order confirmation email to arrive, which vary depending on the reservation’s effective date:
- Deliveries for orders placed until September 2026
- Deadlines extended until December 2026
- Arrivals expected in 2027, with more specific details to be released soon

Even with the long deadlines, Valve continues to accept new reservations, but anyone who orders currently can expect to receive the controller only in 2027, in the most optimistic scenario.
