New Final Fantasy IX product celebrates 25 years; Square Enix bets on puzzle as fans await remake
Square Enix has released an official 1,000-piece puzzle to mark the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX, one of its most iconic titles. Measuring 51 by 73.5 centimeters, the item is now available for pre-sale for US$39.99, with shipping scheduled for September 2026, as part of a strategy to value the franchise.
This puzzle release is part of an extensive line of commemorative products, which includes everything from artwork and action figures to plush toys and a vinyl record with the soundtrack. While a long-awaited remade version of the game remains without official confirmation, the company has already announced an illustrated book about the character Vivi’s past for May 2026 and an animated series, “Black Mages Legacy”, scheduled for 2028.
Despite the excitement over the new items and side projects, speculation about a possible remake of Final Fantasy IX continues to circulate heavily among the fan community. However, to date, Square Enix has not issued any official statement confirming the development of a new version of the classic.
Lançado originalmente no ano 2000, Final Fantasy IX conquistou seu lugar como um clássico reverenciado, amplamente elogiado pela profundidade de sua narrativa e pelo carisma de seus personagens. This lasting admiration from fans is the main driver for the continued demand for each new item related to the game universe, even in the absence of major news in the game format.
