Lionel Messi’s father is discharged from hospital and returns home; journalist confirms improvement in Jorge Horacio’s health
A relief for the Messi family marked last Monday (22), when Jorge Horacio Messi, father of renowned player Lionel Messi, was discharged from hospital. After a period of hospitalization for health reasons, he is now at home, as reported by Argentine journalist Ángel de Brito, from “América TV”. This event occurs while Lionel Messi is also making history, consolidating himself as the top scorer in World Cups.
Ángel de Brito, known for presenting the program “LAM” and for his closeness to the Messis, confirmed Jorge’s hospital release. The father of the famous athlete, at 68 years old, is already in Rosário, his hometown, where he will continue the recovery process at home.
The improvement in the clinical picture represents a great relief for Lionel Messi and his family, given the fears regarding Jorge Horacio’s health in previous weeks. The Argentine striker himself showed the intensity of his emotions when he cried after scoring his first of three goals in the 3-0 defeat of Algeria, in the opening match of the World Cup.
However, the period of uncertainty was worsened by a television incident last week, when presenter Florencia Peña, from “Luzu TV”, declared live on the program “El Show del Verão” that Jorge Messi had passed away. This false news was promptly refuted through an official statement from the Messi family, which clarified the health situation. In response to the spread of incorrect information, the broadcaster decided to fire the presenter.
In the aforementioned statement, the family detailed that Jorge received medical care and demonstrated positive progress in his recovery process. The official text also called for greater responsibility in the dissemination of news, condemning the proliferation of rumors about a subject they considered to be of an intimate nature.
