Newlywed tourist dies in Türkiye after jumping into the sea during their honeymoon and hitting his head
A 27-year-old man, Suleyman Sariefe, passed away last weekend in Turkey after an 11-day battle for his life at a teaching hospital in the city of Fethiye.
The victim, who had gotten married on June 6, was enjoying her honeymoon at a coastal resort. The fatal accident happened when Suleyman Sariefe jumped into the sea, in front of his wife Ezgi Sarıefe, and collided with his head on the bottom, causing serious injuries.
Despite the quick rescue, the Turkish national suffered irreversible spinal injuries.
Witnesses present reported that Suleyman Sariefe incorrectly judged the height of the jump, which resulted in a disastrous head-first fall.
The tragic incident happened on the third day of the couple’s honeymoon celebration.

The body of Suleyman Sariefe, who was an employee of a pickle factory in Turgutlu, was transferred to Alaşehir, his hometown, where the burial took place on Sunday, June 21.
Fethiye, a coastal town in Muğla province, is famous for its crystal clear waters and the beauty of its landscapes, making it a popular destination for holidays, stag parties and honeymoon trips. The attraction to water activities in tourist locations like this often leads to accidents due to a lack of adequate risk assessment or lack of knowledge of the local environment, highlighting the importance of prudence.
