Tom & Jerry animation gets romantic comedy script inspired by ‘La La Land’ by Warner Bros
The iconic duo Tom & Jerry are about to return in a new animated film, according to a recent announcement from Warner Bros. Animation. Writers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack reveal details about the creative influences that shaped this upcoming production.
The central narrative, released, shows the two animals being taken in by benevolent individuals who, in turn, develop a romance. Faced with this, the cat and the mouse begin an intense rivalry, committed to dismantling the relationship between their newly found caregivers.
“Tom and Jerry make every effort to annihilate each other or to disintegrate their guardians,” McCormack detailed. He added that the work is configured as a romantic comedy that evokes the style of ‘La La Land’. The purpose of so much dispute between the characters lies in the desire to be noticed and loved, summarizing the film in the maxim: “Love is worth fighting for.”
While the new production doesn’t hit the screens, it’s worth remembering the characters’ most recent work: the animation ‘Tom and Jerry: An Adventure at the Museum’.
The official synopsis of that previous adventure reports: “The most famous duo in the world is back in TOM AND JERRY: AN ADVENTURE AT THE MUSEUM! Tom & Jerry get involved in yet another of their adventures when, during a chase inside a museum, they find a magical object and end up being transported back in time. Lost in a distant time and experiencing many confusions along the way, they will need to put their fights aside and work together to find a way to return home before it’s too late.”
