Court orders arrest of former player Leandro Guerreiro in São Paulo for child support debt
In the capital of São Paulo, former player Leandro Lessa Azevedo, widely known as “Leandro Guerreiro”, was arrested this Wednesday (24) due to a debt relating to child support. Imprisonment for this nature of debt is one of the most severe measures provided for in Brazilian legislation to guarantee the support of dependents, with the former athlete taken to the 13th Police District, located in Casa Verde, north of the city.
Leandro Lessa Azevedo, who was born in Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of São Paulo, had remarkable spells at several Brazilian football clubs. His career includes notable performances in important teams, such as Vasco da Gama, Corinthians, Fluminense and, mainly, São Paulo.
During the period in which he defended Tricolor from São Paulo, between the 2006 and 2007 seasons, the player took to the field in 116 matches, finding the net 16 times. He was one of the members of the team that won the 2006 Brazilian Championship, one of the club’s most important titles.
An eternal moment of that victorious campaign was carried out by the former athlete, who celebrated the title by climbing one of the goalposts of the Morumbi stadium and crossing his fists, a gesture that, according to information, would be a reference to one of São Paulo’s organized supporters.
