Doctor is arrested in Paraná for serious allegations of torture, threats and embezzlement after taking up residence in hospital
A doctor was preventively detained in Paraná on charges of threats, persecution, torture, emotional harm and embezzlement, following complaints from the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Rodrigo Felipe Amparado, who allegedly transformed a deactivated surgical center into a private “apartment” within a hospital, faces an investigation that has already collected reports from employees describing the routine there as a “horror movie”. He worked in the cities of Itaúna do Sul and Nova Londrina.
In response to the allegations, Rodrigo and his wife’s defense announced that they will present evidence about “inconsistencies” in the allegations.
The investigation against the health professional began after the Public Ministry of Paraná (MP-PR) received complaints from other employees. The irregularities under investigation, according to the testimonies, would have occurred between the months of March and May 2026.
Detailed accusations against the healthcare professional
In the statements collected during the investigation phase, the Public Ministry identified that Rodrigo Felipe Amparado had implemented “an environment of constant arbitrariness”, subjecting one of the victims to threats, constant humiliation, persecution and uninterrupted surveillance. One of the employees reported to the MP that the work atmosphere imposed by Rodrigo was comparable to a “horror movie”.
The MP announced that the municipal health secretary of Itaúna do Sul had implemented measures to correct some of the irregularities found. However, the doctor would have started persecuting the woman and members of her family.
Reports indicate that “[…] he allegedly threatened to torture the secretary’s daughter and kill her husband, even, on one occasion, displaying a firearm on his waist when looking for the victim’s family member”, reported the Public Ministry.
Additionally, the professional is investigated on suspicion of torture against children and adolescents. His wife, who works as a nurse, is responsible for omission in relation to the alleged commission of this crime. Specific details about these crimes were not disclosed, and the case remains under judicial secrecy.
The woman was also the target of a complaint for the crimes of embezzlement and malfeasance, and the Nova Londrina Public Prosecutor’s Office requested her immediate removal from office.
Improper transformation of a surgical center into a private room
The place where Rodrigo set up his accommodation was originally a surgical center that was deactivated. Inside the room, the doctor installed a bed, a wardrobe and a television, while the other health professionals used a common room. Appropriations of this type of public space for personal use can compromise the health infrastructure and the population’s trust.
In addition to essential furniture, the doctor stored t-shirts, blankets and other personal items. They even found a towel with his name embroidered on it and a massager.
In the environment, the Public Ministry’s investigation found that he spent the night with his wife during work shifts.
The g1 investigations revealed that Rodrigo is a civil servant in Itaúna do Sul and also provides services at the municipal hospital in Nova Londrina. However, in relation to Nova Londrina, there are no records of irregularities or crimes.

Preventive detention and authorities’ reactions
Rodrigo Felipe Amparado’s preventive arrest was carried out on June 17, and he has remained in detention since then.
In a statement sent to RPC, a TV Globo affiliate in Paraná, the Regional Council of Medicine of Paraná (CRM-PR) declared that it had ordered “an inspection of the health institution where the events occurred.”
“Concrete cases of evidence of violation of the Code of Medical Ethics are analyzed in an investigation, a procedure that takes place in procedural secrecy and guarantees the parties involved the right to contradictory proceedings and full defense, under the terms of the Code of Ethical-Professional Process (CFM Resolution No. 2,306/2022)”, explained the CRM note.
The City of Itaúna do Sul, in turn, assured that it is closely monitoring the investigation. See the full statement:
“The Municipal Administration of Itaúna do Sul became aware of the filing of a complaint by the Public Ministry of the State of Paraná in relation to the facts that have been the subject of investigation by the competent authorities. This is a new development of a situation that had already been monitored by the Municipality, which is why the Municipal Administration is also adopting the administrative measures that it deems pertinent within the scope of its legal responsibilities. The Municipality will continue to collaborate with the competent authorities whenever requested and will monitor the evolution of the procedures related to the case. As this is a matter currently submitted to the Judiciary for consideration, the Municipal Administration believes that it is not appropriate to anticipate conclusions or issue statements on the merits of the accusations presented.”
The official defense position of the doctor and his wife
The defense of the doctor and his wife, contacted by the report, reported that they have already requested the revocation of Rodrigo’s preventive detention. Read the note in full:
“Manoel Neto, lawyer for Dr. Rodrigo Felipe Amparado and nurse Maiara, receives with great surprise the offer of a complaint containing extremely serious allegations, especially because, in an initial analysis, the accusations seem to be supported by fragile, contradictory elements and reports whose credibility will be duly questioned during the course of the process.
At this moment, the defense is carrying out a detailed analysis of the case file to present the response to the accusation and other applicable procedural measures, an opportunity in which it will demonstrate the inconsistency of the charges formulated.
The defense is also awaiting consideration of the request to revoke Rodrigo’s preventive detention, confident that the Judiciary will carry out an adequate assessment of the facts and circumstances of the case.
Out of respect for procedural secrecy and the regular progress of the criminal action, no further clarifications will be provided at this time.”
