British influencer accused of murder in Dubai could be sentenced to death by firing squad
A digital influencer of British nationality is at risk of being sentenced to death by firing squad, following accusations of the murder of a 26-year-old man in the city of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. The situation raises debates about the severity of local laws and the complexity of cases involving foreigners.
Brooke George, 23, had arrived in Dubai after a virtual meeting with Bill Treeby, 26, both living in Kent, England. Their relationship is the backdrop to the tragic incident.
The influencer stabbed him with a knife that resulted in the death of Bill, with whom he had a romantic relationship. The young woman’s defense argues that she was constantly subjected to domestic violence. Brooke remains detained in the notorious Bur Dubai prison, awaiting the outcome of the trial.
The group Detained in Dubai, which is dedicated to defending human rights and assisting foreigners in the region, is calling on authorities to treat the incident as a case of domestic violence. They are calling for Brooke, who has more than 100,000 followers on TikTok, to be released on bail while the investigation continues.

“She defended herself with a knife after being attacked and punched in the face. Authorities need to consider her as a survivor of domestic violence when investigating what happened,” said a representative of the group.
Brooke reported that she met the man on Facebook and that their first trip to Dubai lasted a week, which she described as “the best time of her life”. However, during the second visit, the influencer noticed a marked change in Bill’s behavior, which became irritable and aggressive.
After a series of attacks, Brooke expressed an intense desire to leave the United Arab Emirates. With the help of friends, she managed to buy a ticket to return home, but when she returned to the apartment to get her passport, she was again violently attacked with a punch to the face while begging for the document to be returned, according to reports from her family.
Brooke claims she felt her own life was in danger and, in an act of self-defense, reached for a nearby kitchen knife. She was arrested in the early hours of June 22 and accused of murder, and was intercepted by police at Dubai airport.
