Casio presents a special edition of the G-Shock dedicated to Pokémon, with Pikachu and a case that imitates a Pokéball
A notable collaboration marks thirty years of the Pokémon franchise with the launch of a special version of the Casio G-Shock watch. The model, identified as GA-110PKM-7A, brings back the classic colors of the first 1996 games, such as Pokémon Red, Green and Blue, directly appealing to fans’ nostalgia. This launch reinforces Casio’s strategy of consolidating its presence in the highly sought-after collectibles segment, a market fueled by partnerships with major pop culture icons, and will make its debut in the Japanese market.
The accessory’s structure uses the well-known G-Shock GA-110 chassis, widely recognized for its durability and high resistance to impacts and magnetic interference. Its unique design incorporates striking symbols from the Pokémon universe: the dial at the 9 o’clock position is stylized to resemble a Pokéball, while the indicator hand is designed in the characteristic shape of the Pikachu character.
The watch strap, made of translucent resin, functions as an illustrated timeline of the series, displaying thirty different Pokémon chosen from all generations, from the Kanto region to Paldea. Iconic characters such as Pikachu and Eevee are highlighted on the main part of the bracelet, and Mew appears on the loop, completing the tribute to the thirty creatures.
On the back of the box, also made of resin, the official logo commemorating the franchise’s 30th anniversary is engraved. The watch is accompanied by a special packaging, in the shape of a Poké Ball, and its external box is adorned with the arts of all the Pokémon that are part of this limited edition.
In terms of physical characteristics, the device measures 55 × 51.2 × 16.9 mm and has a total weight of 72 grams. It offers shock resistance, protection against magnetic fields and can be submerged in water up to 200 meters deep. The display is protected by resistant mineral glass, and is powered by a CR1220 battery, with an estimated autonomy of two years.
The integrated automatic calendar guarantees the date is updated until the year 2099. The dial’s night illumination is provided by an amber LED, which has afterglow and allows the duration time to be selected between 1.5 or 3 seconds.
This model preserves the advanced technical functionality present in the GA-110 line, including a high-precision stopwatch with measurements down to 1/1000 of a second and the ability to record up to 99:59’59.999”. Features include elapsed time, lap time and split time modes, as well as a speed counter that goes from zero to 1998 units per hour, with adjustable distance input from 0.0 to 99.9.
The built-in world time system covers 29 distinct time zones, corresponding to 48 global cities plus Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). It allows you to activate or deactivate daylight saving time and quickly switch between your home city and the world time zone.
To organize your routine, the watch provides five independent daily alarms, one of which has an automatic repeat function (snooze), and a beep every full hour. The general precision of the machinery is remarkable, with a maximum variation of 15 seconds more or less per month.
