Flamengo ends the initial stage of training at Ninho do Urubu before traveling to Portugal for the interseason
Flamengo is preparing for one last commitment on national soil this Friday at Ninho do Urubu, finishing the training phase in the country before heading to the interseason in Portugal. The opponent will be Bonsucesso, who recently secured their qualification for the round of 16 of the Copa Rio, a crucial competition that grants important places for the Copa do Brasil, Série D of the Brazilian Championship and the 2027 Copa Sul-Southeast.
This clash will allow coach Leonardo Jardim to carry out the first tactical assessments, implement a significant rotation among athletes and incorporate young talents from the youth category who had already been participating in training sessions throughout the week. Several of these promising players are guaranteed a presence in the main delegation that will travel to the Algarve region.

The Flamengo squad, after a day off on Saturday, will resume activities at the Training Center on Sunday to begin their international campaign. The flight to Lisbon is scheduled to take off at 3:35 pm, Brasília time. From the Portuguese capital, the team will travel overland for around two and a half hours by bus to Lagos, where they will establish their initial base. This meticulous logistical approach away from the spotlight offers the club an environment conducive to physical and tactical improvement without the interruptions of the local calendar, facilitating group cohesion and focus on the strategic objectives of the interseason. Accommodation and training will take place at the luxurious Cascade Wellness Resort, on the beachfront.
Afterwards, the delegation will travel to Estoi, a municipality located approximately one hour away from Lagos. The team will be hosted near the Algarve Stadium, a place that will be used both for friendly duels and for training sessions, which will take place on an auxiliary field.
The match schedule includes a clash against River Plate, from Argentina, on July 3; Lausanne, from Switzerland, on the 8th; and Benfica, scheduled for July 11th. All of these commitments will be held at the Algarve Stadium, configuring tests varying in style and demand, fundamental for the team’s tactical adjustment throughout this preparation phase. The group’s return to Rio de Janeiro is scheduled for July 12th, thus ending the period of official matches at Ninho do Urubu.
