Sony stops sales of the aibo dog robot in Japan as current stock runs out
The Sony Group and Sony Marketing announced, this Tuesday, June 25th, that sales of its well-known robot dog, the aibo, will be discontinued in the Japanese market. The decision implies that the commercialization of the current model, ERS-1000, will end when the remaining stocks are completely exhausted.
Support services for the aibo robot will be maintained for existing owners
However, Sony has assured that support for current aibo owners will not be affected. Varied service plans, technical assistance for repairs and the exclusive application will remain operational, even after the sale of new units is completed.
The company detailed that a series of features and functionalities will remain active for users. This includes maintenance of the aibo Basic and Premium plans, the aibo Care support service, the availability of accessories and parts, the operation of the “My aibo” application, repair services for eventualities and the use of the aibo Base.
The Sony Group reinforced that it remains committed to expanding its portfolio with the launch of new products and services. For any queries regarding current sales or support services, consumers can contact aibo Owner Support directly at toll-free 0120-30-2629.
