Truck driver dies from stabbing in Marginal Pinheiros; suspect escapes after argument in São Paulo
A 62-year-old driver lost his life this Thursday (25) after being stabbed on Marginal Pinheiros, in the West Zone of São Paulo. The tragic incident occurred during the early hours of the morning, after an argument near the Jockey Club, towards Interlagos. The crime had a significant impact on traffic in the region during the morning rush hour.
The victim of the fatal attack was identified as Laércio da Silva, born in Jataizinho, Paraná. The truck driver’s body remained in place for hours, awaiting the necessary procedures from the technical expertise team, according to the most recent updates.
How crime developed on the São Paulo highway
The Military Police were called at around 5:45 am to respond to the incident on the busy expressway. Preliminary information indicates that the homicide may have originated from a traffic accident, involving the cargo vehicle driven by Laércio and another car that has not yet been identified. After the collision, an intense altercation reportedly broke out between those involved.
During the disagreement, under circumstances that remain under investigation, the truck driver was struck by a knife in the chest. The individual identified as the perpetrator of the attack immediately fled the scene and, at the time of writing this report, had not been located. This incident, which ended in a fatality, reinforces the concern about the escalation of violence in traffic disputes in large cities such as São Paulo.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene of the incident, but the driver did not survive his serious injuries and died at the scene of the attack.
Information about the victim’s vehicle and the impact on road flow
The truck that Laércio was driving is registered in the city of Carapicuíba, in Greater São Paulo. It was found that the vehicle was unloaded at the time the brutal crime took place.
The incident caused slowdowns and congestion on Marginal Pinheiros, specifically on the stretch towards Interlagos. The impact on traffic was felt for several hours, complicating the movement of vehicles during the morning.
Developments and line of investigation of the case
Authorities have not yet been able to determine the exact motivation that triggered the argument and subsequent fatal assault. Police are searching for security camera footage from a gas station near the scene of the crime. The objective is to obtain clues to identify the person responsible and clarify the complete dynamics of the facts.
Through a note, the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) confirmed that the incident was forwarded and is being handled by the 89th Police District. The department also informed that the case will be transferred to the State Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP), which will take over the continuity of the investigations.
