With a salary of R$355 million, Al Hilal focuses on Salah for the attack and Raphinha remains as an option
Al Hilal, one of the giants of Saudi football, is preparing a significant investment to strengthen its offensive sector next season. The club’s management allocated a budget of at least 60 million euros, the equivalent of approximately R$355 million at current prices, exclusively to cover the salary of a new prominent striker. This move reflects the league’s strategy of attracting big names to the Middle East.
The Riyadh team’s intention is to formalize a three-year contract, valid until June 2029, offering the chosen athlete 20 million euros per year. This amount represents around R$118.5 million per season in salaries alone.
In addition to the initial commitment, the established bond will include an automatic renewal clause for a fourth season, extending the agreement until June 2030. The annual values would be maintained at 20 million euros in this extra period.
Currently, the main name on the agenda behind the scenes at the Saudi club is Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah. After a successful trajectory of nine seasons with Liverpool, the player is without a contract, which considerably simplifies negotiations for a possible transfer, eliminating the need to negotiate a termination fine with another club.
Brazilian striker Raphinha, who was already in Al Hilal’s sights at the end of 2024, remains an alternative for the club. However, he is seen as a secondary option, as he has not expressed interest in playing in Saudi Arabia and has a current contract with Barcelona until 2028.
Al Hilal’s current squad already has five foreign athletes dedicated exclusively to the attacking sector. They are the Brazilians Marcos Leonardo and Malcom, the Uruguayan Darwin Núñez, and the French Karim Benzema and Kader Meïté. However, there is an expectation that two of these players will leave the club soon.
