After ten years, Oreo Cinnamon Bun returns to shelves and fans celebrate the return of the flavor chosen as one of the most requested
While many brands adopt a strategy of more spaced launches, some are overflowing with enthusiasm, presenting new products frequently, even just a few weeks apart. For food enthusiasts, these companies are often the most beloved.
Among companies known for their constant menu updates, such as Taco Bell and its varied items, or Coca-Cola with the rotating flavors of its Freestyle machine, Oreo and its diverse line of sandwich cookies stand out.
The Oreo brand has been very active this summer, launching flavors like the Firecracker Pop with flag-colored cream for Independence Day, brown sugar pancake-flavored cookies in collaboration with the group BTS, and the exclusive Campfire S’more Oreos, covered in chocolate sauce, which celebrate one of the best flavors of the season.
However, even with consumers still finding BTS Oreos in stores, a new Oreo cookie is already on its way to supermarkets. Oreo announces the return of one of its most requested flavors of all time: Cinnamon Bun, inspired by the popular cinnamon bun.
Cinnamon roll-flavored Oreo cookie returns after a decade of absence
Oreo confirms that its cinnamon roll-flavored cookie version is among the ten most requested discontinued flavors by consumers. Now, after being off the shelves for ten years, the cookie makes its long-awaited return.
Cinnamon Bun-flavored Oreo cookies are inspired by the popular bakery treat and combine cinnamon-flavored cookies with a cream filling that tastes like a cinnamon roll. Upon their initial release in 2016, one reviewer even claimed they “tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in cookie form,” while others called them “far superior to Cinnabon’s cinnamon rolls.”
The discontinuation of Cinnamon Bun cookies in the United States has not affected their presence on shelves in Canada. Many American fans even imported them via Amazon, where Canadian packages were sold for approximately 11 dollars. Consumer demand for imports was a clear indication of the enduring appeal of this flavor, showing public engagement with niche items.
However, it will no longer be necessary to spend that amount, as Cinnamon Bun-flavored Oreo cookies will be available across the country from July 6th. Despite the joy of fans who consider them “one of the best of all time”, the bad news is that the sale will be for a limited time this summer.
The return of Cinnamon Bun-flavored Oreos is another of the flavors that Oreo has planned for the end of 2025. The company had organized a vote among fans through “Oreoverse”, inviting customers to choose 13 discontinued cookies that they would like to see back.
We’ve already witnessed the return of Oreos S’moreos to shelves, and now it’s the turn of Cinnamon Bun Oreos. However, the brand has not confirmed whether this specific launch is a direct result of fan voting. Regardless of the method that reopened Oreo’s “vault” of flavors, anticipation is high to see if other classics will return soon.
