Criticism of the body since childhood: Sasha Meneghel reveals trauma by denying pregnancy rumors
Businesswoman Sasha Meneghel refuted the speculation of a possible pregnancy that gained momentum recently and, on the same occasion, shared a profound outburst about the impact of the constant criticism that her body receives from a young age. Xuxa’s daughter revealed that comments about her appearance have been with her since she was ten years old, culminating in moments of severe mental health problems throughout her life.
Important news points
- Pregnancy clarification:Sasha Meneghel denied claims that she was expecting a baby, after a video with her husband raised suspicions.
- Criticisms in childhood:The designer discussed how the pressure regarding her physical shape began in childhood, triggering significant challenges for her mental health.
- Trauma with social networks:As a teenager, the fear of nasty comments on digital platforms made Sasha avoid leaving the house to avoid being photographed.
Speculation about a pregnancy originated when João Lucas, Sasha’s husband, published a video in which his hand appears on the designer’s belly during a birthday celebration. Xuxa Meneghel’s daughter publicly clarified that she is not expecting a baby at the moment, although she hopes to become a mother in the future.
“I’m not pregnant. When João posted this video, I said to him: ‘Honey, they’re going to think I’m pregnant’. And he replied: ‘They always think so’. Personally, I dream of being a mother. I really want to be, but I’m not”, she said in an interview with the newspaper O Globo, dispelling any doubts.
Sasha also recalled that she was the target of opinions about her body from a very early age, as a child. She mentioned that the constant exposure made her give up activities she enjoyed and significantly altered her perception of her own image. This type of early scrutiny is a painful reality for many public figures, who often have to deal with unrealistic expectations imposed from a young age, profoundly impacting the development of self-image and emotional health.
“People have given me opinions about my body since I was very young. And this caused me mental problems at some points in my life. As a child, it was because I was too full for the standard I should be. People felt comfortable enough to give their opinion on the body of a ten-year-old child”, said Sasha about her experiences.
The businesswoman reported that, during her teenage years, the situation worsened considerably with the growth of social networks. She revealed that she started avoiding leaving the house and even stopped going to the beach, all for fear of being photographed and, again, being the target of negative and cruel comments.
“At that time, it was when social networks started to grow and I remember that I didn’t want to go out because I wouldn’t have the possibility of being photographed. I loved going to the beach, but I started to not feel comfortable doing something I loved because the comments were never affectionate”, expressed Sasha, exposing the pain caused by external pressure.
Sasha also added that it took her a considerable amount of time to overcome the importance she gave to criticism, but emphasized that this overcoming does not mean that she considers this type of behavior acceptable or justified.
