Regarding advance purchases, a report from The Game Business detailed, based on statements from an anonymous retailer, that demand for consoles may exceed availability. The intense search for next-generation platforms, driven by the launch of Grand Theft Auto, could lead to the depletion of PS5 and Xbox Series stocks.
“We have been advised that due to persistent challenges in the hardware component supply chain, we will not receive the desired units prior to the release of GTA 6. Demand is projected to outpace supply during the holiday season.” The statement highlights the sector’s concern.
