The universe of “MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls” has just gained three unusual new members. Blade, Loki and Deadpool have been confirmed to join Ghost Rider, forming the new team known as the Samurai Outriders.
The confirmation came from the game’s producer, Arc System Works, who celebrated the expansion of the cast with the inclusion of these characters who promise to shake up the arenas.
The reveal of the new fighters took place during EVO 2026, on Sunday, June 28, where the final trailer for the “Samurai Outriders” team was presented, taking many fans by surprise.
New lineup: the fifth and final Samurai Outriders team
Previously announced, Ghost Rider, voiced by Giancarlo Sabogal, now joins Blade, voiced by Imari Williams, Loki, voiced by Jason Spisak, and Deadpool, played by Nolan North, consolidating the group’s formation.
Unlike the well-known Midnight Sons team, the newcomers are grouped under the moniker of Samurai Outriders, a choice that intrigues enthusiasts of the Marvel universe and offers a distinct dynamic.
This collective is characterized by having heroes with darker aspects and, initially, they do not operate as a harmonious group, but rather as individuals with divergent purposes.
The journey of maturation and evolution of both individual members and the team, as they face global threats, will be one of the pillars of the narrative explored in the game’s Episode Mode.
Asgard reveals itself as a new battle stage in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls
In addition to the characters, a new setting for the clashes was also confirmed: the mythical kingdom of Asgard.
Known in the Marvel Universe as the “Kingdom of the Gods” and the grandest of the Nine Realms, Asgard is a civilization that mixes magic and high technology, under the leadership of King Odin, and is also home to Thor Odinson and Loki.
Within the game, the Asgard stage will be divided into five distinct combat areas: the Observatory, the legendary Bifrost Bridge, the imposing Throne Room, the mysterious Treasure Vault and the sacred Yggdrasil, the World Tree.
Details about new playable characters
Blade: the Japanese-trained vampire hunter
Eric Brooks, better known as Blade, came into the world as a human-vampire hybrid, the result of a vampire’s attack on his pregnant mother. Driven by the desire for revenge against the beings who took his mother’s life, he dedicated himself to hunting vampires and other evil creatures.
In the context of this game, Blade improved his physical and mental capabilities after a period of intense training in Japan. His main weapon is the Muramasa, a legendary sword known for its ability to slice even deities.
Generally, the Muramasa sword has its power sealed, but when Blade chooses to release it, the blade takes on an intense red hue, indicating the activation of its maximum potential.
Blade’s fighting style is marked by aggression, masterfully using a varied arsenal of lethal equipment, which includes the Muramasa, machine guns and glaives.
Among his exclusive abilities, “Heartstopper” stands out, an attack that launches a spike to paralyze the enemy, allowing Blade to quickly get closer. When hit, Muramasa radiates a red glow, intensifying the effectiveness of his sword movements.
With his ability to close distances and deliver blunt attacks, Blade embodies the essence of a relentless hunter in battle.
Loki: the God of Mischief tries to become a hero
Loki Laufeyson, Thor’s adopted brother, is widely recognized as the “God of Mischief” and “God of Lies.” Despite being raised by Odin in Asgard, his true ancestry dates back to Laufey, the king of the Frost Giants.
Although historically an antagonist, the game’s narrative shows Loki on a journey to redeem himself and assume a heroic role. As part of the Samurai Outriders, he uses his powers of stealth strategically.
His combat method is characterized by cunning, using a series of feints and counterattacks based on illusions. He also employs ice and magic projectiles, as well as unpredictable movements to continually disorient opponents.
Maintaining his cunning personality, Loki is capable of carrying out frustrating and illusory attacks. However, if his tricks are revealed, he becomes vulnerable to severe reprisals, making him an unpredictable fighter who exploits his opponents’ flaws.
Deadpool: the loudmouth mercenary who breaks the fourth wall
Wade Wilson, the Canadian mercenary known as Deadpool, had a difficult childhood, which led him to leave home at a young age. After extensive military training and service in the special forces, he was diagnosed with cancer.
Integrated into the Weapon X Program, Wade received a healing serum derived from Wolverine’s blood. Although this intervention saved his life and gave him a superhuman regeneration factor, it also left his body disfigured and his mind unstable.
Deadpool’s fighting style mirrors his fiery personality, driven by his advanced healing factor. He employs a combination of firearms, grenades, and swords, as well as risky tactics that involve purposefully taking damage.
In a peculiar way in this title, Deadpool obtained a strategy guide that “breaks the fourth wall”, granting him access to iconic moves from several classic fighting games. Full of energy and excitement, he appears in the arena with an extravagant repertoire of movements that promise to entertain the audience.
