Biohacker Bryan Johnson Reveals Incurable Autoimmune Disease During Extreme Quest for Longevity
Technology entrepreneur Bryan Johnson, known for his dedication to longevity projects, recently announced the diagnosis of an unexpected health condition. The news about an incurable autoimmune disease came at a crucial time in his journey to slow aging.
Johnson, a 48-year-old businessman who gained notoriety for documenting his rigorous health routine aimed at reversing his biological age, reported on social media last week about the discovery of the illness. The revelation adds a significant challenge to his ambitious mission to “conquer death.”

In a post made on June 30th on platform X, Johnson described the illness with the shocking phrase: “My stomach is eating itself up.” He explained that he was diagnosed with autoimmune gastritis, a condition in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the healthy cells lining the stomach. This type of chronic illness means that your own body is constantly attacking a vital organ, a paradox for someone seeking the pinnacle of health.
The businessman detailed that, for many years, he was unaware that he had the disease. He believes the likely cause was his diet rich in fast food and sugary drinks, habits he cultivated before joining biohacking and implementing radical changes to his eating and sleeping patterns.
Recounting his story, Johnson said that, as a child, he consumed excessive sugary cereals, soft drinks and fast food. After a few years of healthy living in his early 20s, the arrival of three children and building a business led him into a stressful and demanding routine, in which his health was left aside, resulting in him gaining 40 pounds. During this period, he fell into a state of chronic and deep depression, and it was then that his body began to develop an autoimmune process that first affected his thyroid and, subsequently, the lining of his stomach.
