Microsoft renames Xbox Mode on Windows 11 in major visual rebrand
Microsoft has implemented a renewal of the visual identity of the feature known as Xbox Mode within the Windows 11 operating system. This modification is already visible in the most recent version for members of the Windows Insider program, where the functionality is now presented in capital letters, aligning with a rebranding strategy initiated by the company in 2026.
This change integrates a set of innovations led by the CEO of the Xbox division, Asha Sharma. The executive carried out a direct consultation with the user community to define the most appropriate spelling of the brand, demonstrating a focus on public perception, a strategic move to solidify the brand’s presence in an increasingly integrated gaming ecosystem.

Most participants in the consultation indicated a preference for the spelling XBOX, with all letters in capital letters, a format that is already being applied on official platforms, social networks and in several other Microsoft offers.

However, despite the revision in nomenclature, the essence and functionality of the resource remain unchanged. XBOX Mode was designed to deliver a console-like experience, launching Windows 11 with an interface specially designed for using controllers, particularly useful on portable devices.

This functionality also improves the login process, allowing entry via PIN, and optimizes navigation using exclusively the control. In addition to the visually adapted interface, XBOX Mode focuses on increasing performance during gaming sessions, minimizing the execution of processes in the background and, according to information from Microsoft, being able to free up up to 2 GB of RAM.
The company also has plans to incorporate this feature into the next generation of the Xbox console, which is currently codenamed Project Helix. In parallel, continued experience enhancements are expected through the Windows 11 development program. This effort demonstrates Microsoft’s ambition to create a cohesive, high-performance gaming experience spanning both its future consoles and the PC ecosystem.
