Astrolabe Games releases AGO Statement and guarantees independent games on physical media for PS5
Astrolabe Games released, on Friday, July 10, 2026, its “AGO Declaration”, an initiative focused on preserving the gaming experience. The manifesto establishes that the company will produce and sell physical editions, or disc versions for PlayStation 5 (PS5), of all its new, unreleased titles that meet certain criteria.
In conjunction with the measure, a video was released to promote the new product line. At the end of the material, additional details about the game “BlazBlue Entropy Effect X” are revealed.
Initiative aims to preserve independent games in physical format
With the phrase “The wind is rising… we must try to survive!”, Astrolabe Games highlights the urgency and vision behind its new commitment. The “AGO Manifesto”, released on July 10, 2026, reaffirms Astrolabe Games’ commitment to manufacturing and marketing disc copies for PlayStation 5 (PS5) of all new games in development that have not yet been released and that meet the requirements.

The measure is a response to the “new circumstances” expected from January 2028 in the video game scene, which point to an increasing digitalization of releases and a potential reduction in the supply of physical media on the market. The manifesto seeks to “fulfill responsibility, do your best and have the most fun” alongside partner development teams, with the aim of immortalizing creations in a format that can be physically handled and possessed by players, solidifying a lasting legacy. A promotional video for the catalog was presented by the company’s global ambassador, Mr. Davis.
Understanding the nomenclature of the AGO Declaration
The name “AGO”, present in the declaration, originates from Astrolabe Games’ Chinese nickname, “阿狗 (A-gou)”, which refers to “little dog” or “puppy”. The acronym also explores a pun on the English expression “Give something a go”, translating the purpose of offering creators the opportunity to release their titles in physical format.

Requirements for the titles that will be considered
New games under the global publishing responsibility of Astrolabe Games will be considered, as long as they are compatible with the PS5. Additionally, master data for the titles, following approval from Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), must be finalized by June 1, 2027, with official launch scheduled for the second half of the same year.
How the initiative will be implemented
Astrolabe Games is committed to producing, manufacturing and selling physical copies for PS5, guaranteeing the minimum quantities and regions essential for games that meet the established requirements. It is important to note that, due to variables in regional distribution conditions and the different stages of development of each title, the company cannot ensure sales in all global regions. However, it ensures a minimum distribution in at least one of the following continents: Asia, America or Europe.
Disclaimer clauses
The statement represents a promise of good faith from the small company to the developers, with no obligation to compensate if the production of the physical version for PS5 proves unfeasible for reasons of force majeure. Situations that justify exemption from liability include:
- New regulations from the platform holder that make it difficult to execute the declaration.
- Regional distributors overwhelmed, unable to meet demand from small manufacturers ahead of schedule.
- Developer failure to submit PS5 master data within the established deadline.
- There is no PS5 version of the game.
- Lack of developer cooperation in creating a PS5 version.
Some titles already confirmed for physical release
The list of games already announced that meet the conditions and will be released in physical format includes:
