Arthur’s contract termination reveals cost per minute higher than Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus
Midfielder Arthur’s time at Juventus officially came to an end on August 21, 2026, with the announcement of the termination of his contract. Unable to establish himself at the Italian club, the Brazilian player leaves the Turin team with an unfavorable financial record, according to data from an Italian sports publication, indicating that his cost per minute on the field exceeded that of big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Dusan Vlahovic.
Announced by the Italian team in 2020, Arthur participated in 63 official clashes. Every minute that the midfielder was on the field would have represented an expense of 31 thousand euros, the equivalent of approximately R$186.9 thousand, considering the current price.

In a comparative analysis, Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who wore the Juventus shirt between 2018 and 2021, had a cost of 20 thousand euros per minute, around R$120.6 thousand. Serbian Vlahovic, who remained at the club for five seasons, recorded an estimated cost of 15 thousand euros, or approximately R$90.4 thousand, per minute played.
Also according to information released by the Italian newspaper, Arthur received the amount corresponding to 1.6 million euros per match, which is around R$9.63 million. In the sum of salaries and various other expenses, the steering wheel represented a disbursement of more than 100 million euros for Juventus’ coffers, an amount that reaches approximately R$603 million.
The Italian publication adds that Arthur should receive compensation of around 25% of the 6 million euros he would have been entitled to in the final year of his contract with Juventus, after a renewal that included a salary reduction in 2024.

The negotiations that prevented Arthur from remaining at Grêmio
The initiative to end the relationship with Juventus came from the team that represents Arthur. The midfielder had returned to Italy in July, after not having his loan contract with Grêmio renewed, and even though he participated in pre-season games, he was not in the technical committee’s plans.
Before his return to Italy, there were attempts by Grêmio and the player to extend the loan agreement. Arthur aimed to leave Juventus without additional costs and demonstrated his willingness to give up the R$4 million per month that he would still receive until June 2027, the date scheduled for the end of his contract with the Italian club.

During the conversations, Grêmio offered a salary close to R$1.5 million for Arthur, maintaining the level he already received, so that he could continue at the club from Rio Grande do Sul until December 2028. However, the player expected values in the region of R$2.5 million, in addition to a three-year contract. Given the divergence, a financial settlement was not reached.
With the termination of his contract in Italy, Arthur is now free on the market. His name has already been considered by other Brazilian football teams, including Corinthians, Cruzeiro and Fluminense, and the player is open to analyzing new proposals aimed at continuing the season.
