Apple is preparing to launch the first public beta of iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate, continuing the initial tests that have already been made available to developers. This move follows the company’s pattern of expanding access to software innovations before their official launch, allowing a wider audience to try out the new features.

The technology giant is expected to make the iOS 27 public beta available later this week. This schedule coincides with the company’s historical pattern of releasing its first public beta versions in mid-July, consolidating a practice already observed in previous years.

According to a recent report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple plans to officially make public beta versions of iOS 27, macOS Golden Gate and other software updates available. The company presented its latest innovations during WWDC 2026, held last month in Cupertino, and shortly thereafter launched the first beta version for developers.

Since then, Apple has released two more beta versions for developers, but there has still been no official confirmation on the exact date of the public version. However, launching this week would align perfectly with the company’s preference for the month of July to debut its first public beta versions.

Although the beta version for developers allows you to test the new features of iOS 27, it is often buggy and not best suited for everyday use by the general public. The public beta version, in turn, expected approximately one month after the first one for developers, tends to be significantly more stable and with fewer initial glitches, improving the user experience.

However, for those looking for a completely glitch-free and more robust software experience, the most prudent thing would be to wait for the official launch of iOS 27. This is scheduled for shortly after the presentation of the iPhone 18 Pro series and the iPhone Ultra, which are expected to debut in September this year.

It’s important to note that even with the public beta arriving this week, there will still be a waiting list to access Siri’s new AI features. These advanced features will be available exclusively for the iPhone 15 Pro and later models, limiting access to users with newer devices.

CPU scheduler to improve performance on older iPhones

Apple aims to optimize the performance of older iPhone models through a significant efficiency upgrade introduced in iOS 27. A new tool, called CPU Scheduler, is designed to make older iPhones more agile and responsive in everyday use.

The company also claimed to have dedicated considerable time to optimizing the system’s core functions. This includes improvements to memory usage, CPU utilization, network operations, and screen rendering, all to improve responsiveness across its various platforms.

Siri’s redesign gains artificial intelligence

Apple highlights that Siri now has improved conversational capabilities, being able to assist in generating ideas, refining plans and creating detailed itineraries. This update aims to make the assistant more versatile and useful for users.

Siri, which now incorporates a custom Gemini model, is now officially called Siri AI. Although the “Hey Siri” command still activates the voice assistant, users will also be able to access it by swiping down from the Dynamic Island or pressing the device’s side button.

Siri’s artificial intelligence will also be integrated into Spotlight on the iPad and Mac. This functionality will allow users to ask questions related to images, files or texts displayed on the screen, expanding the possibilities for interaction and search.

Dedicated app for Siri

Siri now competes with other artificial intelligence chatbots on the market by gaining a new independent application. When opening the app, users will have access to a list of all previous conversations with Siri, and a pencil-shaped icon at the bottom will allow them to start a new interaction.

The app will be available for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple Vision Pro and Mac. This cross-platform compatibility means users will be able to start a conversation with Siri on one device and continue the interaction on any of the other compatible devices, providing a seamless experience.

iPhone camera becomes smarter with Siri

The iPhone Camera app will get a new Siri mode, allowing users to point the camera at various elements, such as objects, locations, documents or food, and ask Siri questions directly about what is being viewed. This integration aims to transform the camera into an interactive consultation tool.

Additionally, Apple is adding two innovative features to the Camera app. First, users will be able to use Siri to analyze bills and share expenses with friends in a practical way, using Apple Cash.

Secondly, Siri, integrated into the Camera app, will be able to provide detailed nutritional information about the foods on the person’s plate, offering an instant and useful health analysis.

The Photos app gains artificial intelligence features

Apple is finally improving the Photos app with some long-awaited updates powered by artificial intelligence. Firstly, the company claims that its AI-powered eraser feature, known as Cleaning, now works significantly more efficiently than before.

Although the Cleanup feature has been a part of iPhones for a few years, Apple says it can now remove distractions with improved quality and offer “more realistic fill, even in complex scenes”, resulting in more natural and imperceptible edits.

Secondly, a new option called Expand will be added to the Photos app, allowing users to extend an image beyond its original edges. This functionality generates additional content to fill in the blanks, expanding the composition of the photograph.

Finally, a new Spatial Reframing feature will allow users to adjust the composition and perspective of a photo even after it has been taken. The feature uses Apple’s vast knowledge of spatial models, in conjunction with generative artificial intelligence, to simulate what the image would look like if it had been captured from a different angle, offering flexibility in editing.
