France’s attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki returned to the spotlight this Thursday, July 17, after his team’s elimination from the World Cup. The athlete maintained his confident stance, despite the setback for Spain, and expressed gratitude for the support of the French fans during the tournament.
“Don’t forget, we will come back and we will come back stronger. And we will come back, above all, to bring everyone together”, declared Cherki, in a video released by the French Football Federation on its digital platforms.
Acting as a substitute in the French team during the World Cup, Cherki did not start any match among the starting eleven selected by Didier Deschamps. He ended his participation in the championship without goals or assists.
In the semifinal game, the player wearing shirt 24 entered the field in the 26th minute of the second half, but his participation was not enough for France to reverse the score.
Rayan Cherki’s full message to fans
The player extended his message, detailing the team’s feelings and thanking everyone:
“Hello everyone, I’m Rayan, I hope you are well. We are on the plane heading to Miami, for the third place match. It’s difficult, but as I always said, we will not abandon ourselves. We will always fight for our homeland, for friends, for family. For those who came from above, for those who came from below, we will always fight. We left the hotel in Boston, it was incredible. Thank you very much to all the people who worked for us throughout this period. They were extraordinary. Unfortunately, we were unable to do they live what we wanted to live, but thank you very much. A few more hours to spend with each other. I think we will have deserved a good time of rest. Don’t forget, we will come back stronger. And we will come back, above all, to bring everyone together.
