The Spanish team, two-time world football champion, arrived in the capital Madrid on Monday, July 20, 2026, at around 9:30 am Brasília time, bringing the World Cup trophy. After the historic achievement, the team and its coaching staff are ready for a full day of scheduled celebrations.
The triumph that guaranteed Spain’s second title was achieved on Sunday, when the team beat Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final, with a decisive goal from Ferran Torres during extra time.
Upon arrival, Captain Rodri, recognized as the best athlete of the World Cup, was the first to exit the aircraft, displaying the coveted trophy. Then, the other athletes, all with their medals, joined him to record the moment in photographs.
Official schedule of the celebration in Madrid
Champion players will have a schedule full of protocol commitments. Initially, the team will be honored with a reception from the Spanish royal family at the Zarzuela Palace, followed by a meeting at the Moncloa Palace, which serves as the official headquarters of the Spanish government.
Subsequently, the delegation, made up of athletes and committee members, will board an open-top bus for a parade along Madrid’s main roads. The route will start in the Moncloa area, crossing iconic points such as Princesa, Goya and Serrano streets, Independence Square and Puerta de Alcalá. The celebration will culminate on Calle de Montalbán, close to the Palácio de Cibeles, where a stage has already been set up to host musical shows, entertainment and various presentations.
