One UI 9: Galaxy S26 Ultra gains privacy feature for floating windows
Samsung is preparing important news for the privacy of Galaxy S26 Ultra users with the arrival of One UI 9, expected to be officially launched this week. The update promises to considerably improve the privacy screen functionality already existing on the device.
This improvement is achieved through “PIP Privacy Display”, a feature that the Korean company has already started testing. It aims to expand the capabilities of privacy technology for floating windows, namely Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode.
According to Samsung detailed in the changelog of the beta 4 version of One UI 9, the main proposal is to protect the content of applications used for multitasking, such as video services and messengers, preventing external eyes from seeing sensitive information in floating windows.

The functionality acts to reinforce this visual security, offering more refined control over what can be seen by those nearby while the user navigates between different tasks.
Previously, the Privacy Display function allowed the user to darken the entire screen in selected applications. The objective was similar: to block the view of people around.

Now, with this new protective layer, applications like YouTube, frequently used in PiP windows, will have their visibility significantly reduced for those trying to spy from side angles, ensuring greater discretion even in public environments.

It is important to note that implementing this improvement is quite simple for the user. Simply enable the privacy screen for the desired app within the system settings.
Once configured, when minimizing the application to the PiP window format, One UI 9 detects the floating area and automatically triggers protective dimming.
