A nine-year-old child died after falling from the eighth floor of a residential building in Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo. The incident report describes that the height of the fall was around 30 meters, a critical factor in the fatality.
The tragic incident took place on the night of July 26, 2026, on Avenida Presidente Castelo Branco, located in the Ocian neighborhood. To the police, an uncle of the victim reported that he lived in the building and was awaiting the arrival of the girl, who would spend a few days in his care.
The relative reported that he was lying in his apartment when he was alerted by an intense noise. When he went to check what had happened in the corridor, he found the child’s body in the lighting shaft on the ground floor.
Rescue professionals were mobilized promptly, however, the medical team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) confirmed the girl’s death at the scene of the accident.
The girl’s mother and sister were also present in the building at the time of the incident. They were unable to give their initial statement, as they required medical assistance due to the shock.
The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP) announced that the incident was registered as a suspicious death in the 1st Police District of Praia Grande. The police report indicates that family members reported that the girl herself threw herself from the circulation corridor that leads to the apartments. The classification of “suspicious death” allows a more detailed investigation of the circumstances, especially in light of reports about the dynamics of the fall. To help clarify the facts, the victim’s cell phone was collected for analysis.
