Blocking of WhatsApp accounts angers users and Meta explains security measures
People using WhatsApp reported that their messaging app accounts were blocked on August 3, 2026. Many internet users expressed surprise on the X platform, saying they had received suspension notices.

The notification received by users stated: “This account can no longer use WhatsApp. Conversations are still on this device.” The message also offered the possibility of appealing the decision for an analysis of the application.
The decision generated great dissatisfaction among users, who expressed their anger and questioned the reasons for the blocks on the X network. One person reported having been suspended and raised the hypothesis that the problem was related to the large number of contacts not saved in the calendar.

A spokesperson for Meta, the company responsible for WhatsApp, stated that the company works to combat misuse of the platform.
