Drag event with RuPaul in Canada breaks Guinness world record
A drag show held at the Cowboys Music Festival in Alberta, Canada, broke a Guinness world record by attracting 7,423 participants, including the famous RuPaul. The show, titled “Drag Me to Cowboys”, took place on July 11 and featured performances by drag artists such as RuPaul herself, Sasha Velour, Sasha Colby, Nearah Nuff, Roxxy Andrews and Coco Montrose.
The festival, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, set the mark for the largest audience for a stage show by drag artists. Confirmation of the record was made by Guinness World Records judge, Tina Shi, who reviewed the event remotely and used specialized software to verify the presence of 7,423 people.

“This demonstrates that the queer community is celebrated and welcomed in Alberta,” said Farrah Nuff, who served as host of the performance. She added that holding the event on the biggest stages and celebrations in Canada and Alberta highlights that queerness is, in fact, a vibrant part of local communities.
