Nintendo hosted a dedicated Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave stream on the morning of August 4, 2026, featuring a 20-minute dive into the upcoming strategy RPG. The presentation detailed character classes, non-combat activities and uncovered the true structure of the game, offering fans an in-depth understanding of the elements that make up this new adventure.
As anticipated, Fortune’s Weave puts four playable protagonists at the center of the action: Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda. They participate in the Heroic Games, a gladiator-style tournament, in search of fulfilling their desires. Players can switch between these characters at any time, with each person’s progress being saved, allowing their narratives to be experienced in parallel. This mechanic aligns with the game’s main theme, which addresses the intertwining of multiple fortunes.
However, a plot twist reveals that the game’s initial era is set in the past. The true plot of Fortune’s Weave takes place five years in the future, a period in which the world has been devastated by the return of the demon god Balor. The progenitor goddess Sothis summons the only soul capable of stopping him, an anonymous hero dressed in white, who reveals himself to be the true protagonist of the story. To avoid facing Balor alone, this hero travels to the past to influence the destinies of the four champions, bringing them together in the future to save the world. The narrative complexity, by exploring the interaction between past and future, promises greater depth to the series, enriching the players’ experience with a plot that goes beyond the conventional.
Combat in the arena involves selecting a team of units and positioning them on the field, following the traditional Fire Emblem style. Units can wield swords, gauntlets, spears, axes, bows and magic, each with distinct properties and even varied forms, such as a firearm. Combat Arts deal greater damage, but consume the weapon’s durability, while Blaze Arts unleash special moves in exchange for life points. For example, Cai can launch a fireball that deals burn damage, Dietrich can instantly teleport to new points, and Leda can buff nearby allies and summon a monster to the field. A notable innovation is the ability to rewind to any previous point in the battle to fix errors, which provides an additional strategic layer and greater flexibility.

The game’s classes are divided into Beginner, Expert and Advanced. Nintendo detailed each category.
Beginner class details
There are five classes for beginners, each playing a key role in combat. Among them are the gladiators who excel in handling weapons, the divines who use magic and the ornius knights with greater range of movement.
Variety of classes specialized in combat
There are over 10 specialized classes, each with specific skills. Armored knights offer enhanced defense, winged soldiers can overcome obstacles and cover great distances, and charioteers can attack multiple enemies in a straight line.
Advanced classes and their dominant skills
These classes represent the pinnacle of skills. Cataphracts combine the mobility of horses with heavy armor; the guardians are masters of white magic and spears; and elephant riders fight on their giant mounts.
Between matches, there is a period of “Free Time” where you can prepare for future battles, training in the arena or observing rivals to gather information. The shopping area offers new weapons and upgrades. On Temple Row, you can volunteer at temples to get temporary bonuses to your battle stats, like reduced damage. Certification exams allow units to learn a new class as long as they possess the prerequisite skills. Additionally, players can accept missions from locals, which must be completed within a time limit, and recruit certain citizens, although some require gifts or meals to be convinced to join the cause. Inns allow rest, food and the passage of time to automatically obtain resources, and characters with strengthened bonds talk in cinematic scenes, enhancing their bonds.

Outside of Dagsion, you can explore a world map to visit cities, collect information in search of treasure, and face random encounters. There are also dungeons where you can find materials for weapons and other rewards. Interestingly, dungeon battles take place in a traditional turn-based combat format, as opposed to the grid system.
