Serena and Venus Williams return to play together at the WTA in Cincinnati after four years
Serena and Venus Williams, world tennis legends, confirmed their union on the court once again. The North American athletes accepted an invitation to compete in the WTA 1,000 in Cincinnati, marking the renewal of a partnership that has already won three Olympic titles and 14 Grand Slam trophies. This will be the sisters’ first doubles appearance since the 2022 US Open, with the event beginning on August 13, 2026.
At 44 years old, Serena Williams made her return to the professional tennis circuit after a hiatus of almost four years. The former number one in the world ranking participated in the Wimbledon Grand Slam at the end of June, where she was eliminated in the opening round, facing Australian tennis player Maya Joint.

Previously, the sisters were registered for doubles competitions at Wimbledon. However, they chose to withdraw from the championship due to a knee injury suffered by Serena Williams.
Taking advantage of the invitation in Cincinnati, Serena and Venus Williams aim to reactivate their winning partnership in the WTA 1,000 tournament, which will begin on August 13th. This event is considered a fundamental stage of preparation for the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the season, scheduled to start on August 23rd.
