An app delivery man reported being attacked after complaining about the long wait for an order at a pizzeria on Avenida Oliveira Freire, number 1,090, located in Parque Paulistano, in the East Zone of São Paulo, on the night of August 5, 2026.

According to the motorcycle courier, he had been waiting for more than an hour for the order to be prepared. During this time, he repeatedly questioned employees about the status of the order.

The delivery man said that, after waiting for a long time, he decided to cancel the delivery. According to him, the argument began when an employee responded rudely.

In his statement, the motorcycle courier stated that the employee called him to talk and then tried to take his motorcycle key. He said he was pushed off the motorcycle and fell to the ground.

“I said I wanted to get away from the fight, I didn’t want any trouble, I just wanted to leave. He came to take the motorcycle keys, pushed me and I fell,” said the delivery man.

The professional continued his report stating that he started recording the situation with his cell phone after the fall. At that moment, the employee would have picked up the device and thrown it away.

“He put his hand on my cell phone and threw it away. Then he came at me again and punched me several times in the head and eye,” he said.

After leaving the place, the motorcycle courier shared what happened with another co-worker. Both, outraged by the situation, returned to the pizzeria to demand explanations about the attack.

The victim reported that, when they arrived at the establishment, the man identified as the attacker was at the entrance, accompanied by one of the pizzeria’s partners. During the new argument, one of those involved pulled out a firearm and fired at the delivery men. The motorcycle courier was unable to say whether anyone was hit.

Analysis of images of the confusion between delivery drivers and attacker

Videos recorded at the scene show a large group of motorcyclists gathered in front of the pizzeria, which appears with the doors closed during the confusion.

The images capture a man pointing a gun at delivery drivers. At one point, it is possible to hear the voices of motorcyclists asking: “You’re out of bullets, right?” Soon after, the man is hit in the face with a helmet, falls and is removed from the scene by other people who take him inside the pizzeria.

In the videos, the delivery drivers present justify the mobilization as a collective response to several cases of mistreatment and aggression faced by professionals in the category. This incident reflects growing concern about the safety and treatment of application workers, who often find themselves in vulnerable situations while performing their duties.

The attacked delivery man reported that he was going to the 50th Police District, together with his lawyer, to file a police report.

The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) was contacted to provide its position on what happened.
