Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 will have Portuguese subtitles
Konami made it official, on August 5, 2026, that the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 compilation will include subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese, meeting fan demand. The confirmation came through a publication on the company’s official profile on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, where the message was released entirely in Portuguese, accompanied by a playful adaptation of Solid Snake’s iconic catchphrase.
How the Brazilian fan campaign brought localization
Before this decision, the game set only supported English, Spanish, Japanese, German, French and Italian. The Brazilian gaming community had been organizing an active campaign on social media for several months, aiming to include Brazilian Portuguese. Konami’s publication, which sealed the announcement, was illustrated with an image from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots already featuring a snippet of localized text.

However, one crucial aspect remains unclear. The developer said that additional information about the launch of subtitles will be revealed soon. Therefore, it is not certain whether the feature will be available when the game debuts or whether it will be implemented later through an update. Additionally, no details were provided about a possible localization for the first volume of the collection, which continues without the option of the national language.
Games and bonuses that make up the new collection
The central point of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is, without a doubt, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This title, which ends Solid Snake’s journey, was originally released in 2008 and remained exclusive to the PlayStation 3 console for almost twenty years. The collection marks the debut of this acclaimed game on several other platforms.
The set also features Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, in its HD Collection edition, allowing online play for up to six participants. However, Konami said that the multiplayer mode will not be cross-compatible between different platforms. An interesting digital bonus is Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, an adventure game released in 2000, originally for the Game Boy Color. Complementing the package are electronic books with scripts and character profiles, the soundtrack and a complete database on the series’ timeline.

The company had already carried out the complete localization of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater into Brazilian Portuguese. The inclusion of subtitles in Vol. 2 eliminates a historical difficulty for many players, especially considering that Hideo Kojima’s franchise is notorious for its narrative complexity, with extensive cinematic sequences and conversations via codec. The language barrier has always represented an impediment for a considerable number of fans. Therefore, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, often cited among the greatest games of all time, is now accessible to a new generation of enthusiasts, who will be able to fully understand its grandeur.
