Microsoft is moving forward with plans to make Xbox 360 titles available on computers, using its backwards compatibility system. Although the company has not issued an official confirmation about this initiative, a significant step has already been taken with the launch of compatibility for original Xbox games on PC, as announced in July 2026 and which already includes four games.
Among the first four titles that are now available to players on the computer are BliNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: Road to Revenge and Fuzion Frenzy.
In a strategic move, Microsoft shared with developers internal documents detailing an optional system for integrating Xbox 360 games on PCs. This mechanism will give publishers the autonomy to determine the availability of a game for PC, set its value and choose to add it to the Game Pass catalog. In addition, the company provides support for computers, portable devices and its future Xbox console, known as Project Helix.
The expectation is that the arrival of Xbox 360 games will occur in the next two years, specifically between 2027 and 2028. This approach suggests that Microsoft does not intend to make the entire Xbox 360 library available at once, but rather to implement a progressive compatibility schedule, incorporating new titles after approval, expanding the range of options for game fans.
Currently, Microsoft’s PC compatibility program already allows players access through the Xbox application on Windows 11, also allowing digital license portability for eligible titles. The company also informs that computers and portable devices are among the compatible devices for the launch of original Xbox games, with the promise of expanding the list of titles soon.
To ensure functionality, Microsoft employs emulators as a support tool. The recently released PC versions already incorporate an Xbox 360 emulation layer, which offers an explanation on how the company can expand this system to include more Xbox 360 games in the future, according to information obtained.
In short, Microsoft has already made original Xbox games available for computers, and there are expectations that Xbox 360 titles will be the next to integrate this platform, although so far there is no official confirmation from the company.
