Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison stay has been extended again, according to information released on August 5, 2026, with the Bad Boy Records founder having his release date changed once again.

The postponement, ordered by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, came after an altercation that occurred the previous month between the artist and another inmate at the federal penitentiary in Fort Dix, New Jersey. Combs’ new release date was set for February 20, 2028, which represents an increase of almost a month to his sentence compared to the previous forecast, which was January 2028. This change, resulting from an internal incident, marks a new factor in the fluctuations in his sentence.

Federal authorities did not detail what happened involving the artist and the other detainee. However, sources close to the situation point out that the incident was primarily verbal, with insults being exchanged. Prison guards acted promptly, separating those involved and taking them back to their cells. There is no confirmation on the application of solitary confinement as punishment.

Representatives for Combs, convicted by a New York jury last year of two counts of transportation for the purpose of prostitution, have not commented on the new release date. Diddy’s sentence had already undergone several modifications, including an initial postponement to June 2028, followed by reductions to April 2028 and, on two other occasions, to earlier dates later that year.

Combs was acquitted in New York of the most severe racketeering and sex trafficking charges, but received a 50-month sentence last fall, imposed by federal district judge Arun Subramanian. While he is serving his sentence, a legal appeal is underway. Despite intense pressure and a long-standing alliance with Donald Trump, a presidential pardon was not granted.

Sean Combs is involved in more than 65 lawsuits, with accusations ranging from sexual abuse and rape to attacks on his career. He has, however, always maintained his innocence regarding all allegations of sexual misconduct, admitting only to an explosive temper, a drug problem that he overcame, and a propensity for threats. Most recently, the $100 million defamation lawsuit Combs filed against NBCUniversal related to the documentary ‘Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy’ was dismissed in the spring. Additionally, the Grammy-winning musician has apparently not pursued possible legal action against the Netflix series ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning,’ produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

Meanwhile, a decision is awaited from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on whether to pursue sexual assault and domestic violence allegations against Combs. These charges were filed by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Sheriff’s Department in connection with music producer Jonathan Hay. A conviction in Los Angeles could result in a significantly longer prison sentence for Diddy, served on the West Coast.
