Crimson Desert update improves experience and fixes interface glitches
Fantasy role-playing game Crimson Desert has received a series of fixes that address some of the most notable issues since its launch, aiming to make navigation easier and improve the overall experience for players.
Released in March 2026 by Pearl Abyss, Crimson Desert was quickly considered one of the potential candidates for Game of the Year, recognized for its initial solidity, but it was not free from imperfections.
Despite providing a vast adventure experience in the impressive world of Pywel, players reported difficulties with unintuitive controls, a lack of clear explanations of game mechanics, abrupt difficulty spikes, a clumsy inventory system and a confusing user interface.

Recent updates fix critical interface and mission issues
To the satisfaction of fans, most of these issues were resolved by the developers. One of the most recent fixes, included in patch 1.18.00, focused on the presentation of the user interface for missions and their subcategories, now optimized to be clearer and make it easier to search for objectives.
The change is welcome, as disorganized menus tend to hinder the experience. The update notes detail that “the new category is made up of 8 subcategories: Main Quests, Faction Quests, Investigation Quests, Research Quests, Daily Life Quests, Guide, Archive Records and Constellations.”

Patch 1.18.00 also brought improvements to auto-aim camera options, the ability to equip equipment on horses directly in the stables, better visualization of uncovered areas on the world map, and standard stability and performance improvements.
Additionally, Pearl Abyss released two more updates, 1.18.01 and 1.18.02, which came shortly after patch 1.18.00. Both include small adjustments, such as map fixes, an error with housing items and animation crashes.
Pearl Abyss has demonstrated remarkable commitment to fixing several of Crimson Desert’s flaws since its release, working tirelessly to refine the RPG experience for all players, exceeding expectations. With the arrival of the first DLC expansion scheduled for this year, the expectation is that the game will become even more improved.

Initial evaluation highlighted the game’s qualities and challenges
“Crimson Desert is by no means a perfect game. It’s an amalgamation of perhaps too many ideas, and this results in an oddly paced experience that demands too much of the player without offering much assistance,” said one reviewer in his March 2026 review.
However, the same reviewer noted that the game “has impressed more times than any other in recent memory with its stunning open world. Crimson Desert may not be the best game you’ll ever play, but it will certainly be among the most memorable.”
