Russia suffers massive attack by almost 900 Ukrainian drones and records 6 deaths

The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting 822 Ukrainian drones during the night of the attack. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, approximately 600 of these unmanned aerial vehicles were detected en route to the Russian capital, with a third of them being shot down over the metropolitan region. An 83-year-old man lost his life in Moscow after a drone hit his home, Governor Andrey Vorobyov said.

Fire hits warehouse of Russian retail giant
In addition to direct attacks, a Ukrainian drone hit and set fire to a Wildberries warehouse, one of the largest Russian retailers, in the city of Podolsk, also in the Moscow region, as confirmed by Andrey Vorobyov. Russian media released images of columns of black smoke rising from the site. This type of action, which targets distribution centers, shows a Ukrainian strategy of taking the effects of the war directly to the Russian population, impacting the economy and daily life.
Rostov and other cities in southwestern Russia suffer from the offensive
In the Rostov region, in southwestern Russia, three cities were hit by more than 150 drones, causing the deaths of five people. Local governor Yury Slyusar confirmed that the attack damaged several homes and a railway station, as well as causing a significant forest fire. Ukraine has stepped up its use of long-range missiles and drones, increasingly targeting Russian military industry and energy facilities, and now also civilian logistics centers.

Russian attacks leave victims in Ukrainian cities
At the same time, Ukraine was the target of Russian attacks that resulted in deaths and injuries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that a missile attack in Kryvyi Rih killed two people and injured 14 others. He also confirmed the death of one person in the city of Sumy. Russian forces also launched missiles at Kiev, the capital, which caused fires in at least two districts, as reported by Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

In the Ukrainian capital, one person died and seven others were injured due to the attacks. In addition to the missiles, more than 100 drones were targeted at Kiev. Authorities from the capital’s military administration issued air raid warnings, advising residents to seek shelter. The alerts were triggered twice after 2am local time (8pm Brasília time), each lasting about half an hour. Vitali Klitschko described explosions in the city and reported that falling debris caused fires in a non-residential area and in several cars, as well as a building in the Obolonski district.
