Fire hits aircraft in forest area in Greater BH
Preliminary information indicates that the small aircraft may have caught fire before touching the ground, then crashing into a dense forest area. The plane had taken off from Pampulha Airport, in the capital of Minas Gerais, and was destined for the city of Bom Despacho, also in Minas Gerais.
Motiva, the company responsible for Pampulha airport, declared that it is monitoring the case and investigating the facts related to the accident.
Images show the fall with safety parachute deployed
A video, captured by witnesses, recorded the exact moment the aircraft descended with the parachute system activated. In the images, it is possible to see the plane falling before colliding with the ground and being consumed by flames.

CAPS parachute system is a crucial factor in aviation accidents
The Cirrus SR22 model, manufactured in 2013, is known for having a parachute system for the entire aircraft, the CAPS (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System). This safety equipment is standard on all Cirrus SR models and was activated during the fall. The presence and activation of the CAPS is considered an important differentiator, significantly increasing the chances of survival in severe emergency situations, especially in single-engine aircraft where the failure of a single engine can be catastrophic. The quick action of members of the public was also essential in rescuing the pilot.
Investigations into the causes of the accident are ongoing
The competent authorities must conduct a detailed investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident. The investigation will include analysis of the black box, if any, the condition of the aircraft, weather conditions and any mechanical or human error that may have contributed to the crash and fire. At the moment, there is no information about what caused the incident.
