A gas leak caused a fire in the home of minister Kássio Nunes Marques, who works at the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and presides over the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), on August 30, 2026. The incident occurred at the magistrate’s residence, located in Lago Sul, in Brasília, and left no injuries.

Origin of the fire and control by firefighters

The flames started outside the house, triggered by a gas cylinder that was connected to an oven. The fire quickly spread, reaching the property’s acrylic roof. The TSE press office confirmed the details of what happened.

Fire Department teams were promptly called to the scene. After around 40 minutes of intense work, firefighters managed to completely control the fire, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the residence.

Minister was at home during the incident

At the time the fire broke out, minister Kássio Nunes Marques was at his residence accompanied by his wife. Both emerged from the episode unharmed, without suffering any injuries.

Despite the material damage caused, the quick intervention of firefighters was crucial to guarantee the safety of residents and minimize damage to the home of one of the most important names in the Brazilian judiciary.
