Gemini Notebook, a platform formerly known as NotebookLM, now connects to a new resource in the company’s digital ecosystem. Users will be able to interact directly on the tool with official digital books and their contents, a significant expansion of the ability to search and organize information.

Named Expert Intelligence, the initiative is initially restricted to a catalog of 100,000 e-books. The condition is that these digital books have been purchased on Google Play Books and are from partner publishers, such as Penguin Random House, Johns Hopkins University Press and Macmillan Publishers, in addition to individual agreements with some authors.

In practical use, the functionality makes it possible to include e-books as reference material in Gemini Notebook projects. From there, it is possible to consult an artificial intelligence (AI) that exclusively uses this content as the basis for its responses.

Interaction possibilities include requesting detailed summaries, obtaining specific answers or creating infographics, slides and even podcasts. Furthermore, the user can combine information extracted from books with other data obtained from the internet or added as complementary material.

Among the usage examples, Google mentions Gemini Notebook’s ability to generate a recipe from a photo of ingredients and a cookbook. Another application would be to ask for advice on how to offer feedback to employees, using a book focused on the corporate environment as a basis.

The company Google ensures that it has implemented security mechanisms to prevent interaction with books not purchased by the user. This measure applies even if the digital work is part of a project shared by someone who legally owns it.

Furthermore, the company promises to expand this functionality to other of its platforms in the future. Among them are the AI Mode present in searches and the Gemini application itself.
